If I am an athlete, will I need to have my spine adjusted?
At Escalante Chiropractic the treatment of every condition is specific to the cause of injury and the patient. Dr. Morales will determine if adjusting the spine is necessary depending on the patient's presentation and injury. However, it is important to understand two reasons why spinal adjustments are a big part of Dr. Morales' treatment.
1) Nerve Function: The spinal adjustments are The spine houses the most one of the most important sturctures of the body, the spinal cord. The spinal cord is reponsible for carrying messages to and from the brain to every system, organ, tissue and cell in the body. If there is any compromise to the transmission of those messages, depending on the level compromised, the function of related organs and structures will also be compromised, thus affecting optimal performance of the body as a whole.
2) Structural Stability and Balance: When properly aligned, the spine, pelvis and related bone structures and joints are designed to move properly, optimaly and with stabilty and balance. Stability and balance are of utmost importance when it comes to athletic activity and performance. Without a properly aligned spine, related muscles, tendons, ligaments and other structures that provide stabilty are out of balance, can become weaker, unstable and are more suseptable to injury.
How long will it take?
Every patient responds differently to chiropractic care. Results are dependant on the healing abilities of each patient. Some patients notice changes in a few short days or weeks. Others may take weeks or even months before showing progress. Rest assured that whatever the condition or injury, Dr. Morales always explains every detail and treatment options, length of treatment and related costs.
